Spiral-wound gaskets
Metal / graphite composite sealing for flanges
A spiral-wound gasket is a composite metal gasket: a strip of stainless steel wound into a spiral, alternating with a filler of flexible graphite or PTFE. That construction gives it the resilience of a soft gasket and the mechanical strength of metal.
It is designed for flanges under high pressure and wide temperature swings: steam, heat-transfer oils, gases, hydrocarbons and chemical fluids. It is a single-use gasket, replaced every time the flange is opened.
